Jewelry Technique Information
This section will be a work in progress for a while, so check back now & then to see what is new. I have designed this as a resource for learning about how some of my different pieces are made, how these techniques are done. As this page develops, I will try to include pictures of work in progress so you can really see what takes place.
This first page is basically a glossary for some of the terms used in the descriptions of my pieces. If you see one of the terms underlined, click on the name to go to an even more detailed description of the technique.

Constructed
This term is used to describe a piece that doesn't use any special techniques, like repoussé or filigree, for instance.
Filigree
Work that is made of delicate, curled wires.
Granulation
Small metal balls or wires are arranged on a metal sheet, then the piece is very carefully heated until the metals fuse together. Care must be taken to heat the larger base piece enough to fuse, but avoid heating the small pieces so much that they melt before fusion takes place!
Repoussé
Pieces are created by forming a sheet of metal with hammer and various small punches. No molds are used.
Roman Chain
A basic type of loop-in-loop chain.
Thai Weave
A type of loop-in-loop chain, modeled after woven belts from Thailand.
